ACORNSSSSSS ON FIREEEEEE
Saturday 15th October 2016
Another away day for the Acorns saw the boys travel to Hall Place to take on Iron Tugboat FC. Starting well they put good pressure on and got an early goal through Matty Hall to make it 1-0.
Totally against the run of play - Tugboat caught Eltham on the break with a quick free kick and equalised. The game went flat for some time after this but the Acorns battled on and got their breakthrough through another well worked goal by Kuz Solanki, 2-1. They continued making good chances and were rewarded again when their corner tactics paid off, Sam Hayes getting another for 3-1. Must be noted that Matty Hall missed an open goal from 10 yards just before half time.
Coming out well from the break Sam Hayes finished another early moved, rounding the keeper - 4-1. Liam then scored two great corners and Tugboat had all but given up by this point. Jack connected well with a great strike from 30 yards out and then went on to score another as the game started to fizz to a conclusion. Just before the end Jazzy got another and wrapped things up for Eltham as they made it 5 wins out of 5.
Thanks to the match official again and for Tugboat for hosting, the Acorns play in the cup next week Johnson & Phillips Reserves.

Away v Seven Acre Sport
The Acorns travelled to Sevenacre in Abbey Wood on a cold wet Saturday in October. Going into the game after a decent second half the week before they were looking to kick on with a fourth consecutive win in the league.
Unfortunately the start didn't go to plan, Eltham kicked off and things were scrappy for the first 15 or so. Charlie Fabian made a crucial save at 0-0 to keep Eltham in the game, continuing his fine form this year. A few battles won, Eltham eventually got the breakthrough through a well worked move which Kuz Solanki stuck away - the skippers first of the season. Eltham got the better from there on with Liam, Abian and Sam Hayes all combining in a swift counter attack which ended with a clearance off the line.
Half time gave Seven Acre the rest they needed and Eltham came out from the break slow again with spirited and calm defending from both Jake and Kye. Jack also settled things in the middle though and as the half wore on Eltham began to get control of the game again with Adam Murphy and Max combining for a few swift moves down the right.
A fine cross from Adam Murphy somehow resulted in a debatable Eltham corner but the Acorns savoured the opportunity and Sam Hayes finished with a great header into the roof of the net to secure the three points. The game fizzled out as Sevenacre began chasing shadows and Eltham capitalised by using the ball to better effect. Alex then came on and had a few chances but it was to be at 2-0.
Thanks to the match official for the day and Sevenacre for hosting. The Acorns now push on in the hope to continue their fine form against Tugboat.
MONDAY 3RD OCTOBER 2016: Acorns continue unbeaten start to season.
Eltham Town beat Shirley Town 2-1 Saturday 1st October. A game of two halves, the first being very poor from the home side. Eltham went 1 down after 30 minutes, it should have been 3 or 4 down, only the number 11 missing numerous open goals and good work from keeper Charlie Fabian allowed the acrons to equalize from a corner, Joe Macnamara sending his header into the top corner. Bradley and Finch had half chances/shots with neither coming close.
HT 1-1
A regrouping at half time, change of formation and three subs saw a much improved and better performance. Captain Kuz Solanki missing from the previous game, come on alongside Ethan finney at the back and top scorer Andy Hinks returned up top, all making an impact.
65th minute, A fine through ball from vice captain and captain for the day Abian Garcia put Andy Hinks 1 on 1 with the keeper, a very good finish from outside the box saw the acorns lead 2-1. Headers and tackles now being won a much different performance produced from the town throughout the second half. Limiting Shirley town to 2 or 3 long range shots which Fabian dealt with ease. Mathew Hall changed to one of the front three in the second half worked hard and almost had a goal to show for it, causing a goal mouth scramble. Macnamara doing the same minutes later. Hinks had 2 or 3 half chances and had the ball in the net only for a very dubious referee decision disallowing it. Summed the referee's performance up really, not a good day at the office for him, but for Town it's 3 points, 3 wins from 3 and onto next weeks game away to Seven Acre Sports. ACORNS.
